January 31st Update

January sure felt like a long month! This week, we talked about Winter Clothing and body parts. It's a lot of work to go outside when it's cold!  Our shared reading book was Biscuit's Snowy Day.  In Speech group this week, we brought the snow inside and made a special snow cone treat since it was too cold to go outside.  In Music Therapy group, we enjoyed slipping and sliding like penguins and dancing like snowflakes.  Everyone also got a turn to play Ms. Conley's guitar.   Enjoy the some pictures from our week at school!

Upcoming Dates

Valentine's Day

We will celebrate Valentine's Day at school on February 14th.  We will be making valentines for our classmates at school as part of a larger project, so there is no need to purchase valentines for classmates.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

January 24th Update

Well, the winter weather got the best of us this week making for a short, choppy week, but we were able to squeeze in some fun in the classroom.  This week, we learned about animals in the winter.  Some animals sleep, others have to find their food stashed away from the fall.  Some birds fly away to warmer places.  Our shared reading book was Winter in the Forest. We did not have our Speech group because of the day off, but we did have our Music Therapy group.  We had fun singing about where animals go in the winter.  Our fan favorite this week was taking turns waking up the sleeping bear in his cave!  We also enjoyed using stencils to make footprints and matching animals with their footprints in the snow.

January 17th Update

It’s been a busy week in our classroom! Students have been learning about snowmen and we have been focusing on positional vocabulary like top and bottom. We enjoyed the book Snowballs for our shared reading book. In our Speech ggroup, we made snowmen out of donut holes and had a lot of yummy toppings for there to make their hat, scarf, arms, and nose. During music therapy group, we enjoyed blowing our scarves in the icy wind, dancing like snowflakes and building a snowman.   We also continued playing at our pretend play center- the ice-skating rink. Hot chocolate and skating were enjoyed by all.

January 10th Update

We are off and running in 2025! Students have done a nice job settling back into the school routine and seem happy to be back in the classroom.  This week, we have talked about Winter.  There are a lot of fun things you can do in the winter like go sledding or ice skating, but you have to wear your Winter Clothes.  Our shared reading book was The Very Hungry Catepillar's First Winter.  During speech group, we enjoyed playing in some snow we brought in from outside.  Students enjoyed making little snowmen.  We finished up our group with making some hot chocolate.  In Music Therapy group, students had fun getting in the pretend igloo to get out of the wind.  We also made some sensory snow that was wet, but not cold like real snow.  Finally, a classroom favorite-  we opened up our pretend play "Ice Skating Rink" complete with a snack stand and ice skates.
