November 26th Update

And just like that... it is the end of November!!  Our classroom has been hard at work talking about food and Thanksgiving this last week.  Our core words were like and don't like, and our shared reading book was Bear Says Thanks.  We enjoyed two speech groups-  last Monday students chose who they wanted to be from the story.  Each student made a mask of their character and then brought items to the picnic to share with the bear.  Everyone enjoyed sharing! This week, we made pies for thanksgiving and talked about what kind of toppings we wanted to pick for our pie.  Students enjoyed putting in the ingredients and mixing (we made waffles as our pie crust) and then topped them with strawberries, bananas or chocolate pudding.  Yum yum! Just about everyone took a bite or tried the whipped cream!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Enjoy some pictures from our last week or so at school!

November 15th Update

Another week in the books- November is flying by!!  This week, we finished up our Night Animals theme.  We enjoyed several shared reading books this week-  Raccoon Moon and Little Kitten's First Full Moon. We missed our Speech group this week because of the day off, but we enjoyed Music Therapy group.  Everyone LOVED turning the lights on and off to pretend it was day or night.  When it was dark, the "animals" like raccoons, cats, owl, and skunks came out to play.  When the night came and it was light, the "animals" rested in their nest.  We also enjoyed our flashlight center again- this time we had special animal cards and the flashlight reveals the animal that is living there.   Have a great weekend!

November 8th Update

Happy Friday families!  I hope everyone has had a good week and adjusted to the time change!!   Our classroom theme for the next two weeks is Night Animals.  This week, we have talked about bats and owls and all the things that make them unique.  Our shared reading book was Little Owl's Night.  Students enjoyed using flashlights to find different animals from our story hiding in the trees, grass, river and cave hung up around the classroom. We also had a great time during Music Therapy group flying like bats around the classroom, then flying into the cave to sleep.

November 1st Update

I hope everyone enjoyed your Halloween Festivies!  It was a busy and fun week in our classroom incorporating as much Monster & Halloween fun as we could.  Our shared reading book was Go Away Big Green Monster!. During Speech group, we went on a Monster Hunt-  going under the cobwebs, climbing over the rocks, through the swamp, and into the haunted house.  We found monster body parts along the way.  Everyone had fun putting their parts together to make a spooky monster.  We also enjoyed making a witch potion and adding many ingredients like googly eyes and acorns.  Another highlight began last Friday when we picked our pumpkin from the patch. Students had fun painting their pumpkins and took them home this week after the pumpkins were dry.  Celebrating Halloween was great- everyone enjoyed the Halloween Parade and eating some yummy treats before our early dismissal.

Have a great weekend!  Also... enjoy that extra hour!
