October 25th Update

We finished up our second week of learning about Pets.  This week, we focused more on how to take care of a pet and what our pets need.  Our shared reading book was Some Pets.  We introduced the "Pet Care" center during our Speech group.  Everyone enjoyed making collars for their pet, getting the pet its food and of course walking the pet.  We also took care of our pets by giving them a bath.  Students had fun revisiting this center throughout the week, and our pets have been well tended to!  Great job everyone!  In Music Therapy, students enjoyed walking the dog and telling the puppy to come out of the dog house.

Halloween

Halloween is a half day and we will celebrate with treats in the morning before heading home for the day.  Students are welcome to wear there costumes to school. If your child wants to wear a costume, wearing it to school with a back up change of clothes is usually the best option in case any one wants to change. If you have any questions, please let me know :)

Upcoming Dates
Thursday, October 31st-  Half Day for Students- Dismissal at 11 am
Monday, November 11th- No School

Parent Conferences
Some families have conferences next week.  I will send home reminders early next week for those that have an October Conference.

October 18th Update

It's been another great week with the kiddos at school.  Our theme for the next 2 two weeks is Pets.  This week, we talked about different types of pets and things they need like food, a bed, exercise and of course a visit to the vet!  Everyone has enjoyed our Vet Center checking on some of the animal patients.   Our shared reading book was Pets. Music Therapy group was a hit this week- everyone took a turn walking the pet dog and helping find it's bone.  Thanks Mrs. Rosse and Ms. Conley for always providing us with a great time each week.

October 10th Update

Short weeks always fly by!!  This week, we shifted gears and learned about Fall Animals- especially squirrels.  Our Shared Reading book was The Busy Little Squirrel.  Turns out squirrels are very busy finding things like berries, corn and acorns to bring back to their nest to get ready for winter.  In Speech group, the students had fun being squirrels in our courtyard obstacle course.  They had to find acorns along the course and bring them to their nest.  Students also liked feeding the squirrels and filling their tummies with acorns and berries in our sensory bins.  Music Therapy group was also a hit this week-  shaking the bushy grey squirrel tails!  The students did a great job being flexible and waiting their turn to get their school picture taken.  Way to go!!

October 4th Update

Happy Friday everyone!!  We had a fun week at school continuing our Apple and Pumpkin theme, but this week our focus was on 'baking'.  Our Shared Reading book was How To Bake an Apple Pie.  Students had many comments throughout the week about the story-  especially when the boy surprised his grandma and don't forget about the dog- Don't eat it puppy!  In Speech group, everyone liked participating in the steps to make apple pie in a cup, but were not as eager to taste it!  We also enjoyed making a pretend apple pie in our Music Therapy group and in our classroom center this week.  We also ended our week with a different recipe--  not for eating, but for playing!  Everyone one loved the Apple Volcanoes!
