September 27th Update

Our week at school has been filled with all things Apples & Pumpkins.  This week our shared reading books was How Do Apples Grow?. Our core language words and concepts this week were pick, big and small.  Students enjoyed painting with apples and picking which color and size apple stamps to use during speech group. Students also liked picking apples off our apple tree center in the classroom and sorting them by color. In Music Therapy group, students had fun picking a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and picking which instrument they wanted to play.  Students have show so much growth over the month of September!  I am so proud of each of them for their hard work to start off the school year!

September 20th Update

This week we finished up our Farm Unit!  Our shared reading book was Oh Dear! where we helped look for the chicken eggs.  Students had fun driving our tractors in Music Therapy group, growings different crops with the therapy scarves, as well as finding animals on the farm.  In Speech group, we made tractors from graham crackers and used donuts for their big wheels!  The Fall season is also Fire Drill season at school, and students have done a wonderful job practicing being safe.  Great work!

September 13th Update

 We have had a great full week of school!  Students have been working so hard in our classroom, following their schedules, transitioning to and from our Special classes, and participating in groups.  Truly, I could not be more excited for all that lies ahead this year!

Our theme in the classroom for this week is Farm.  Our shared reading book was On the Farm by Jill McDonald.  Our core lanauge targets and concepts are "LIKE"  "IN" and "OUT".  Students made a pig and sheep food craft during our co-taught Speech group with Mrs. Rosse and I.  Our friends seem to be music enthusiasts,  and they had a great time actively participating and playing instruments in both Music class and Music Therapy.

1st Week of School

Welcome families! Our first week of school was great!  The students enjoyed exploring our classroom, practiced following their schedules, and playing in the courtyard and on the playground.  Our shared reading book was Time for School, Little Blue Truck!.  Everyone participated in our classroom centers and we are looking forward to starting Related Services next week.

I hope everyone rests up and gets ready for the full five day week next!  Thank you for sharing your little one with us- we are looking forward to a great year ahead!!
